Parent Volunteers
Support your child's school and farm environments by giving just 30 hours each year. We welcome chaperones, cooks, carpenters, musicians, gardeners, event planners, coordinators, fundraisers, computer gurus and more - there's a role for everyone! Mandatory parent education meetings, open houses, and class social events count as valuable volunteering time too, in addition to pet-sitting, buying donuts for events and attending meetings.
Why We Ask Families to Volunteer 30 Hours
Volunteering at PCS is vital for three key reasons:
1.) Financial Sustainability: When families help with essential tasks, it significantly reduces costs and helps keep tuition affordable. This, in turn, supports an economically diverse school community.
2.) Building Relationships: Volunteering creates opportunities for families—new and returning—to connect and form meaningful relationships, which enrich the social lives of both parents and children.
3.) Modeling Community Engagement: Children learn by watching. When they see their parents contribute time, creativity, and expertise to the community, they internalize the value of service and grow into engaged, thoughtful community members themselves.
